Warsaw’s night sky found its way into a quiet courtyard in Banjara Hills — not as a spectacle, but as a slow, attentive unfolding.
LIGHT STAR GUIDING’s workshop was an invitation to listen deeply: to chant-like openings, sustained drones, and the patient building of tension and release.
Guitarist-composer Mikołaj Poncyljusz, alongside Ray Dickaty, Michał Załęski and Dominik “Dodos” Mokrzewski, opened up their process — how minimalism stretches time, how trance emerges through repetition, and how a group learns to breathe as one.
An evening that reminded us that music doesn’t begin on stage — it begins in rooms like these. ✨🎷

As part of Jazz at Imli’s four-day cross-continental festival, LIGHT STAR GUIDING arrived from Warsaw with a sound shaped by patience, repetition, and deep listening.
Moving between jazz, post-rock and trance-like minimalism, the quartet built long arcs of sound — from sparse chant-like beginnings to expansive, cinematic peaks.
Their visit, supported by the JAZZ PO POLSKU “Around the World” project, offered Hyderabad a rare window into Poland’s experimental jazz scene — on stage and through shared learning in the workshop space.
An evening rooted in exchange, attention, and trust. 🎶

Birsa Esteban at Imli Sarai was the kind of experience you want to replay.

🌀 8 December – Workshop with the Birsa–Esteban Duo
Step into their world as Birsa blends raga-driven saxophone phrasing with Esteban’s New York–honed piano language.

🌘 11 December – Workshop with Light Star Guiding
From Warsaw to Banjara Hills, dive into trance-like grooves, drones and chant-inspired textures.

The jazz workshops are masterclasses where both musicians and non- musicians can join established jazz musicians to play together and improvise with them, learn about their personal stories and jazz history. The masterclasses will be followed by an open jam session with local musicians- not to miss!
