Coffee trees, a valuable source of income for many Vietnamese farmers, are facing a worrying challenge - picking young coffee trees that do not have enough time to ripen, which farmers often do to make a profit during this period. high coffee price point. Recent testing and statistical data have shown the harm this practice causes, and the ramifications for coffee production, quality, product prices, and even crops.

In 2019, during a test, the following data were recorded:
1 kilogram of coffee ripened at the right time has 833 beans. 1 kilogram of young coffee that hasn't had enough time to ripen has 1,113 beans.
After 16 days of drying and through the pounding process, the results are clear:
The ripe coffee fruit weighs 260 grams at the right time. The coffee berries are still young and have not had enough time to ripen, the weight is reduced to only 220 grams.
Compare with new figures. Recently, data from IDH shows:
1 kilogram of ripe coffee at the right time now has 902 beans. 1 kilogram of young coffee that hasn't had enough time to ripen has 1,120 beans.

Picking young coffee affects agricultural output. Statistical data shows that unripe coffee cherries may be heavier, but they do not contain enough sweetness and flavor, reducing their actual value. Low yields when picked not yet ripe enough lead to reduced farmers' income and the risk of a decline in production next year.
๐. ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ:
The process of picking and processing young coffee often does not ensure quality. Young coffee beans may contain more impurities, reduce quality, and create unstable flavors. This affects the coffee's reputation and can make it difficult for importers to trust the product.
๐. ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฌ:
Picking young coffee puts great pressure on the plant, causing the plant to "pay the price" with reduced output and even permanent damage. Coffee plants need time to develop ripe beans and accumulate energy through photosynthesis.

Picking young coffee not only has consequences in the current year but also affects the price of coffee in the future. Poor quality and insufficiently ripe coffee beans will lead to loss of reputation, reduce the value of the product, and affect supply and demand in the international market.
In summary, picking young coffee for immediate profit can have serious consequences for coffee yield, quality, crop and price. Education and awareness programs need to be implemented to prevent this behavior and protect the coffee industry in the future.
