Moghul emperors brought kofta from Persia to India , Koftas (meatballs), are various kinds.Nargisi kofta is a delicate dish to make which consist of ground meat mixture wrapped around a hard boiled egg and cooked in rich gravy.This dish is very popular in North India.It is cooked specially for Dawat & festival time.
The name Nargisi comes from the resemblance to a flower named Narcissus (Nargis), a winter flower grown in India. The flower has a yellow center (the color of cooked egg yolk), surrounded by white petals resembling the cooked egg white. Hence when the Nargisi kofta is cut in halves, resembles the flower.
