PUNJ-AAB is the land of Five Rivers. The basins of Jhelum, Chenab, Sutlej, Ravi and the Beas rivers, all drawing from the mighty Indus, holds in its cradle one of the richest and ancient civilizations – Punjab. River Indus originates from the Tibetan mountains and flows into great valleys. Its civilisation spreads cross borders into India Pakistan and Afghanistan and extends to Iran. Aptly thus it
is called the lifeline of the entire region.
“Had there been no Indus River, there would have been no man living in this part of the world.”
Through age the entire region has emerged as the most fertile of these three nations. The rich rivers, the exquisite air and very fertile soil grows not only food grains but also is the home of exotic fruits, dry-fruits, a variety of spices and Saffron – the spice with medicinal qualities that enlivens the heart mind and soul. Being rich in live-stock there has been no dearth of milk and dairy products in the entire region. This region is the melting point of so many civilizations, cultures, customs and races, each distinct in identity but yet very similar in terms of occupations, lively hood and food habits.
