Bengaluru's hotel and restaurant associations have warned they could stop accepting orders via Swiggy and Zomato from 15 August if concerns over high commissions, discounts and payment deductions remain unresolved.
The associations claim commissions range from 8–28% and have called for transparent settlements, an end to unilateral deductions, and platform-funded discounts only with restaurant consent.
The move comes as alternative food delivery platforms such as Rapido's Ownly and Flipkart prepare to expand, potentially increasing competition in the sector.
