JDU Demands Immediate Repair of Damaged Roads Across Jammu & Kashmir
Srinagar, August 19, 2026: Janata Dal United (JDU) Jammu & Kashmir State President G.M. Shaheen has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating condition of roads across Jammu & Kashmir and demanded immediate repairs and blacktopping before the situation worsens.
Shaheen said damaged and potholed roads have become a major problem for the public, particularly in rural and far-flung areas. Poor road conditions are causing traffic congestion, damaging vehicles and creating serious difficulties for patients, students, farmers, traders and daily commuters.
He strongly criticised the concerned authorities for failing to address the issue despite repeated public complaints. He said the government must stop making excuses and ensure that funds meant for road development are utilised properly and transparently.
“People are paying the price for administrative negligence. Roads are the basic infrastructure of any region, and the government cannot continue to ignore their miserable condition,” Shaheen said.
The JDU President demanded an immediate district-wise survey of damaged roads, time-bound repairs and quality blacktopping. He also called for strict monitoring of road works and accountability of contractors and officials responsible for substandard construction.
Shaheen urged the administration to treat road restoration as a priority and complete major repair works before the onset of winter.
