Gopi had a modest beginning in the year 1976 with a tea stall gradually developed in a Restaurant & Lodge by the year 1979. It was the shear guts and entrepreneurial skill of Late Damodarbhai Thakkar who started this venture of ethnic Gujarati Cuisine at a time when eating out was not a practice in the Gujarati Society. However Gopi has withstood the test of time and has survived for last 33 years facing all odds and growing with every passing year. Gopi is located in the heart of the city on the main arterial road, Ashram Road. It has now become a brand name and in any corner of the city if an auto rickshaw wala is asked, he can drop a customer or a guest without asking a second question.
