Over the past few days, I’ve been subjected to repeated personal attacks, insinuations and serious allegations about me and my business being posted publicly online.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Nobody is entitled to invent allegations, present them as fact, and repeatedly attack someone’s reputation from behind a keyboard.

I’ve kept quiet because I have a business to run and far better things to do with my time. But silence should not be mistaken for acceptance.

I’m now documenting everything, and where allegations cross the line into potentially defamatory statements, I will deal with them through the appropriate channels.

You can criticise my food. You can criticise my business. You can even make jokes about me.

But when you start making serious allegations about a person and their livelihood, you should be prepared to stand over what you say.

😂 “5 BUSINESSES… THERE MUST BE A REASON!”

Apparently, there’s a story going around, so here’s the short version:

I started with a tiny deli across from Youghal Post Office. It grew quickly, so I took over Rendezvous on South Main Street while still running the deli.

After a while, I moved the deli closer to Rendezvous, and eventually closed both and moved into bigger premises — La Bella Roma.

Then came the war in Ukraine, crazy energy and food prices, and fewer tourists due to the lack of accommodation.

So I took a year out, downsized and started again.

Nearly 20 years in business isn’t failure. It’s adapting. 😉

But sure… “there must be a reason.” 😂

Ah yes, because clearly the locals have been avoiding me for nearly 20 years! 😂 This is actually my 5th business venture/operation in Youghal over that time. I must be doing something right if I keep coming back! 😉

🌊 Straight From Youghal’s Sandy Coast! 🐚

I’ve started buying autochthonous surf clams from my dear friend Barry, and honestly… WOW! 🤩

These beauties come straight from the sandy coast of Youghal, and they are something truly special. I absolutely love clams, and I can say without a doubt — these are the tastiest I’ve ever had! 🐚❤️

They have such a unique flavour, fresh, sweet and full of that unmistakable taste of our own coastline. 🌊
We’re bringing these fantastic local clams into our seafood specials at Luigi’s, where we’ll be putting them centre stage in some seriously delicious dishes. 🍝🦪🔥

Local waters. Local produce. Big flavour.
And a big thank you to Barry for bringing us these little treasures from the sea! 🙌

🍂 AUTUMN HAS ARRIVED… apparently. ☕️

We’ve decided to start putting little leaves on top of our coffees. 🍁

Very fancy. Very Instagrammable. Very “look at us, we’re proper baristas.” 😂

Except… no, we haven’t.

When you’re making the amount of coffees we make every day — and apparently making some of the best coffee in town 😉 — there simply isn’t time for us to be faffing around drawing leaves, swans and tiny bloody elephants in cappuccinos.

So if your coffee comes with a leaf, enjoy it.

It probably happened by accident. 😂☕️
