*** Employee of the Month – Ethan ***
This month’s Employee of the Month is someone who should be pretty familiar to anyone who’s dined with us in The Bailey… our Head Bartender, Ethan!
You might remember Ethan from his Employee of the Month post a few years ago, when he was working with us as a waiter. Since then, a lot has changed… although the dress shoes and questionable comebacks are still going strong. 😂
Ethan has been with us for just over 3 years and has worked his way through almost every position The Bailey has to offer:
Kitchen Porter → Waiter → Bartender → Head Bartender
Not a bad career progression!
When he’s not shaking cocktails behind the bar, Ethan is studying Software Development at SETU Carlow, with ambitions of becoming a Lead Software Engineer. Outside of work and college, he’s learning guitar, building Lego and playing Rocket League.
When asked what he loves most about working at The Bailey, Ethan kept it simple: the people. The staff are a pleasure to work with, the environment is friendly and, most importantly, there’s always a laugh to be had.
His favourite task? Making cocktails and bossing bartender Stefan around. 😂
His least favourite? Making coffee during a Sunday lunch rush.
When things get absolutely slammed, Ethan’s strategy is simple:
“Put the burners on and no looking back.” Wise words.
After three years, he reckons the biggest skill he’s developed is… biting his lip...apparently harder than it sounds in hospitality. 😂
A few fun facts about Ethan: his favourite colour is purple, his favourite song is Indigo by Sam Barber and his favourite TV show is Smallville. He has three passports, can solve Rubik’s cubes and dreams of visiting Japan.
And while he may look up to his Dad the most, there's one person who can keep him motivated as no other.... our very own Duty Manager Aaron... mainly because, in Ethan’s words, “he gives out to me if not.” 😂
If he could have any superpower, it would be teleportation, and if he had to eat one thing forever, it would be a chicken burger… so we’ll let you guess what he recommends. 👀
