A Gateway Through Time
This wonderful photograph captures the entrance to the Mount Congreve Stables many decades ago. Once, horses and carriages passed beneath this stone arch as the estate bustled with daily life, while the stable yard beyond was the working heart of Mount Congreve.
Today, visitors still pass through the very same arch-but instead of horses, they are welcomed into The Stables Café, where the historic stable buildings have been lovingly restored as a place to relax, dine and reconnect with the estate.
Although its purpose has changed, the spirit of the place remains the same: a warm welcome at the heart of Mount Congreve.
We love seeing these glimpses into our past. Do you remember the old stables, or have family photographs or stories of Mount Congreve? We’d love to hear them below.
