Two very successful community events round off the year for Café Fia.
On Friday it was a full house at the annual Christmas Dinner/Party for senior citizens. Our guests were welcomed with drinks before being treated to a superb 3 course Christmas dinner, cooked by Andrew and Caroline (with Christine doing salmon) and served by our volunteers. Christmas cake (Christine) and tea/coffee followed while Ignatius Henry led the singing. A great night was had by guests and volunteers.
On Sunday Café Fia hosted the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the very first match played by Coolaney Utd FC where players and management from the first match were presented with a commemorative award. The café was packed as you will see from photos and videos on the Coolaney United page.
We really enjoy hosting these type of events in addition to opening as a café providing a place to have a cuppa & cake and enjoy a chat with friends and volunteers.
The café will be closed now until early spring, giving the volunteers a well deserved break, but we would be happy to talk anytime to anyone wishing to volunteer next year. Please contact Andrew, Joe, Micheal, Lorna or Dave and if you don’t have our contact details Jerry O’Grady can give you them.
All that remains is for all of us at Café Fia to wish everyone Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
