☕️ Contrabando Faces! Meet Dave, one of our loyal, long-time customers! ❤️

It’s always a pleasure having a chat with Dave Dave Cahill about one of our shared passions: U2 🎸 We’re constantly trying to figure out where and when the next concert will be… or whether my hero, Larry Mullen, is going to keep playing, or if I’ll have to step in and substitute for him for a few gigs! 😂😂

Larry, if you happen to read this… just consider it! 😉🥁😂

Dave and his lovely family have been part of the Contrabando family for years now, and one thing has NEVER changed: his coffee order. A nice, strong double Americano to kick-start a long day at work. 💪☕️

Good man, Dave. We love you! ❤️

One of the most loved crèche teachers in town, who once worked at The Village Crèche, just behind Contrabando Café. ❤️

All the kids love her, including our own little one! 😊😊 She’s pure joy — always kind, funny, and full of smiles!

Do you know who she is?? 😍

Thank you for posing for us while holding one of our freshly prepared antipasti: Carpaccio di Bresaola (Beef Carpaccio)! 🥩✨

Simply delicious! 🇮🇹❤️

Here we go… another member of the Contrabando family is taking her own path in life. ❤️

As my facial expressions in these pictures clearly show, I’m feeling very sad to see this girl leave Contrabando — but at the same time, I’m incredibly happy and proud of her.

Ava .foran has been part of our journey for over 5 fantastic years: 2+ years with us at Contrabando, following 3 years working together with the previous management. In all those years, I’ve had the privilege of watching this amazingly smart girl grow from a girl into a confident, beautiful young woman.

I’m so proud of you, Ava. ❤️ I know you’re going to achieve everything you deserve in life because you are incredibly talented, hardworking, and caring. The way you looked after this shop, our customers, and everyone around you is proof of that.

And now, onto your next adventure — your Master’s in Psychology! 🎓🧠 I’m sure you gained plenty of experience at the shop over these 5 years… maybe not exactly the kind they teach you at university! 😂

We all love you, Ava, and you will always have a place in the Contrabando family. Our door will always be open for you.

Best of luck with everything that comes next. Go smash it! ❤️

Today we witnessed such a beautiful little moment from our window — a huge rainbow appeared right in front of Contrabando Café! 🌈✨

Unfortunately, by the time I grabbed my camera and made my way across the road to get a good picture, it was almost gone (Portmarnock traffic has been very heavy lately! 😅). So I only managed to capture the very end of it.

But, as our lovely Anne Moran and her beautyful friend Jeen said, some moments don’t need a perfect photo — they stay in your memory for a long time. ❤️

What a view from our window! 🌈

Sometimes you just have to stop and appreciate these little moments.

It was 1986, one morning at 10am, when Declan walked into a new barbershop on Lisburn Road in Belfast for a haircut. He had long hair back then… and walked out with a brand-new fashionable short haircut. ✂️😎

A few hours later, his twin brother Martin — who had absolutely no idea Declan had been there that morning — walked into the exact same barbershop, with the same long hair, ready for his own haircut. 😂

I can only imagine the barber’s face when he saw him coming through the door… probably thinking:

“What the hell is this… a joke??” 😂😂

Meet our amazing twin brothers, Declan & Martin, straight from Belfast, who come twice a week for their favourite coffee and chamomile tea ☕️🌼 before heading off to the Portmarnock Golf Club for a few sessions of caddying. ⛳️

Thank you, guys, for making my week with this amazing story — and thank you for being such a wonderful part of the Contrabando family. ❤️

Two brothers. One barber. One very confused Belfast morning. 😂✂️

Some stories are simply too good not to share! 😄

W**e of the week: Barbera d'Alba "Ad Majora" 🍷🇮🇹 A vibrant red from Piedmont with notes of ripe cherry, blackberry, and a hint of spice. Fresh, smooth, and beautifully balanced, it's the perfect match for pizza—especially Margherita, the spicy RED HOT MAMA, or pizzas topped with prosciutto like our CONTRABANDO or HANKY PANKY :-). Book your spot for this Thursday, Friday or Saturday nights, WHATSAPP at 012600113 ..Salute! 🍕✨

Contrabando Faces! 🎸☕

Meet Maciej Maciej Bliziński !
There's hardly a day that goes by without seeing him at the shop..

A true musical Swiss Army knife, Maciej plays bass, guitar, double bass... and probably anything with strings if you leave it unattended! 🎶 He's also an excellent sound engineer, so whether it's making music or making it sound amazing, he's got it covered.

Today he dropped in to work on a friend's track while fueling up with our signature FIT-ZY breakfast and, of course, a few coffees to keep the creative engine running. ☕⚡

And his favourite spot in the shop? Easy... right under our guitar, of course! Some people have lucky stars—Maciej has a lucky guitar. 😉🎸

Thanks, Maciej, for filling the shop with music, good vibes, and plenty of laughs. We're lucky to have you as part of the Contrabando family! ❤️
