Meet Kevin — the heart and vision behind Genesis.

What began a number of years ago as a dream of opening a coffee truck has since grown into Genesis on Dublin Street, Monaghan — a space built with passion, creativity, and an incredible amount of hard work.

After taking over the premises in January of last year, Kevin has spent the past seventeen months almost entirely transforming the building by hand. Through countless hours of dedication, he has carefully stripped back the old interior and thoughtfully reimagined the space, breathing new life into every corner.

Formerly known as “Mrs. Hegarty’s” sewing shop, the building carries years of history within its walls. Rather than letting that history fade, Kevin has meticulously repurposed and recycled many of the original materials, turning forgotten pieces into meaningful features throughout Genesis.

With a creative eye and remarkable craftsmanship, he has created more than just a café — he has created a space filled with character, warmth, and stories from the past. Wherever your eyes land in Genesis, there’s a good chance you’re looking at a piece of history, lovingly restored and given a beautiful new beginning.

We are sad to miss out on serving you guys to start off your week, but rest assured we will be back at it Tuesday morning @7.30am!
