This is my final day at Troy Studios it was amazing to be there from the very beginning and playing a key role in its development. I want to thank our CEO Siún and the board of Troy Studios for providing me with that opportunity.

Within the next few weeks, the studios will begin the slow build-up to where it left off in early March and I have no doubt Troy Studios will go from strength to strength in the years to come.

Over those 3 years, I meet some incredible people in the Mid-West region ranging from education, training, businesses and local crew I personally want to thank you all for the support you gave me during my time in Troy Studios and me wish you all continued success.

I look back with fond memories of my time in Troy but now let the next challenge begin! Best wishes Tom Dowling

ANIMATION projects accounted for €372m of the total film production spend here last year, according to Screen Ireland.

The amount spent on the animation sector has jumped from €85m in 2014, when the spend was just 20pc of the total.

"Ireland is now a major global player when it comes to animation production, and this is something we should all be extremely proud of," said Animation Ireland chief executive Ronan McCabe.

Innovate Limerick through Film in Limerick has announced that renowned Danish documentary director, Camilla Nielsson, will be doing an online film masterclass Wednesday, 22 April at 2 pm, free and is open to anyone in the Mid-West with an interest in filmmaking.

Best Costume Goes to… is a The Hunt Museum exhibition, in conjunction with The Irish Costume Archive Project, showcasing costumes from Irish films and major television productions. The exhibition will display costumes filmed in Ireland or abroad but with Irish talent involved. The costumes will be mounted on mannequins and the exhibition will be backed up by sketches, film stills and film clips and additional ephemera. The exhibition tells a story of the relationship between the actor and their costume and the growth of the Irish film industry.

Costumes from 19 films and tv series will be on display, represented by 33 costumes, of which some have been Oscar-nominated. This exhibition gives the opportunity to view costumes from films and TV such as The Favourite, The Quiet Man, Braveheart, Vikings, and more. Visitors will experience the narrative of costumes, understanding not just the history but the social history of a time, be that contemporary or in the past; how people lived, not only how they dressed.

Admission: €7.50 per adult, €12.50 combo ticket (with the museum), Kids FREE
