We would like to extend our most sincere condolences to Terry, Cathal, Ailish, Con, Dermot, the Breen family and his many friends at this sad time. Johnny will be missed in The Swans Bar . This is all the more poignant with the All Ireland Hurling Final this Sunday, Johnny was a great fan of Limerick hurling and had a wealth of knowledge on the subject. Ar Dheis Dé go raimh a ainm dílis, from Paddy, Jean and the staff in The Swans.

🏆 This Sunday, 19 July 2026, will be a super Sunday of sport!!

🇳🇬 Limerick will meet Galway in Croke Park to decide on the All Ireland champions title!! 🇱🇻
⚽ The World Cup final will play out to see who comes out on top after what has been a fascinating competition!! There certainly have been a few surprises along the way. I think we are all Cape Verde fans now!! 🇨🇻
There is a chance that our closest neighbours could be in the World Cup final. There is a strong not only Irish connection, but a Limerick connection, to their top scorer, Harry Kane.
✨ Jim Flood (1875–1918) was a legendary Irish hurler from Caherline, County Limerick, best known for helping Limerick win their inaugural All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship in 1897. Playing as a right corner-back, he also won three county senior championships with his local club and is famously the great-great-grandfather of English footballer Harry Kane.

Make hay while the sun shines, as the old saying goes, and farming has been central to life around Lough Gur for thousands of years. As part of this year's archaeology festival we are delighted to have Eugene Costello coming to discuss Medieval farming practices in East Limerick. Eugene Costello is a historian and archaeologist based in UCC, where he teaches late Medieval and early modern history. Eugene is very interested in rural history and the history of farming, particularly how people interacted with the landscape and understood it. He is especially focused on the period between 1200 and 1850 AD.
The talk takes place on Thursday July 16th at 2pm. Tickets are €7 (excl. fees) and can be purchased following the link below:
