Saving For A Helicopter

Gráinne grew up believing she and her father were saving for a family helicopter. But as she moves through adulthood, a different inheritance begins to take hold, a genetic kidney disease, long looming in the background of her life, finally demands centre stage.

In this deeply personal and funny solo performance, Gráinne charts her journey from carefree childhood to the clinical realities of dialysis, transplant lists, and uncertain futures.

Along the way, she brings to life a vivid cast of characters, family members, doctors, nurses, and her younger self, capturing moments of tenderness, absurdity, and fear with equal honesty.

Blending storytelling, music, and sharp wit, Saving for a Helicopter is a moving exploration of illness, identity, and legacy. It asks what we inherit from those we love, what we carry in our bodies, and how we keep going when there is no escape route, only the fragile, stubborn persistence of hope.

▪ David Nihill: Taking Tangents Tour - Friday September 4 ▪

Leaving Dublin, where he was born and raised until the age of 22, David got drunk on travel and never quite hit sobriety of it. He has lived and worked in twelve countries and visited over eighty. His shows draw on his wide travels, cultural observations, attempts at language study, (occasional) international drinking session(s) and being a mildly confused immigrant.

David is the winner of the prestigious annual San Francisco Comedy Competition, (previous finalists include Robin Williams, Ellen DeGeneres and Dana Carvey) and runner-up in the Moth’s largest US Grandslam storytelling competition. Also a bestselling writer, David recorded his debut special Documented for Dry Bar Comedy in 2019, his follow up Cultural Appreciation in 202, and his award winning show Shelf Help in 2025.

He has been featured on TED.com, Sirius XM, Just For Laughs, Netflix is a Joke Festival, RTE’s Late Late Show, The Irish Independent, Inc, NPR, and the LA Times, among others. A festival favorite, David’s videos have also gone viral many times over with over 1 billion views and a social following of over 2 million people.

🎭Drama Summer Camp: Puppetry Adventure🎭

Join our exciting Drama Summer Camp and discover the magical world of puppetry! Campers will learn how to design, build, and bring their own puppets to life through movement, voice, and storytelling. Through fun workshops, creative games, and group performances, participants will develop confidence, imagination, teamwork, and communication skills. The camp concludes with a special showcase where young performers present their original puppet creations to family and friends. Perfect for creative minds who love drama, art, and storytelling!
