All sorts of obstacles to overcome this morning...apologies for the delay in opening!

Ireland will notice when they’re gone.

Not today, perhaps.

But one day we will look at our harbours and realise the boats have disappeared.

The fishermen didn’t fail.

They were failed.

Failed by policies written far from the pier.
Failed by endless promises without action.
Failed by a system that expects them to absorb every rising cost, every quota cut and every day lost to weather—with no income and no safety net.

Then we will ask why young people did not enter the industry.

Why coastal communities declined.

Why Ireland, an island nation, can no longer feed itself from its own waters.

But we already know the answer.

You cannot starve an industry of support and then act surprised when it dies.

Every vessel lost means a fisherman out of work and at least three more livelihoods ashore placed at risk.

Ireland has a choice:

Support our inshore fishermen while they are still working—or pay the far greater social and economic cost when they are gone.

Once the boats leave our harbours, no Government report, strategy or promise will bring them back.

The warning has been given.
The time for talking is over.

Another Season done & dusted. We are open til 7pm today, but it will be our last Thursday. We will go back to our winter schedule next week. As the Season draws to a close, I would like to thank my fantastic team that I have working with me here, some of whom are leaving the nest & heading off to college... 🥹 A huge thanks to all our customers for their continued support...
