After 25 years of dedicated service our General Manager, Maria Kyte, will soon step down from her role. Maria, has agreed to remain in place until a successor is employed and comfortably in place to take over the role. We will be sad to see her go. Maria can be so proud of what she has achieved here over the past 25 years. We wish her every happiness for her future.
The WSVR board of directors has begun the recruitment process for a General Manager to lead the Waterford Suir Valley Railway into the future. This is a unique opportunity to manage a distinctive heritage social enterprise.
In this role, you will collaborate with an a small team of professional staff, a dedicated volunteer crew, and a supportive voluntary Board, all united by a passion for preserving and promoting Waterford’s rich railway history.
The work is diverse, creative, and engaging, with no two days being the same. Responsibilities will include leadership, operations, events, visitor experience, regulation and community engagement. There is ample opportunity to develop new events, build on past successful initiatives, and implement fresh ideas.
Looking ahead, WSVR has ambitious plans, including:
- The restoration and eventual operation of a steam locomotive
- The development of a new visitor attraction within the Preservation Facilities Building
- Continued growth as a key part of the region’s tourism offering
