It’s a good question. Why aren’t Irish fishermen allowed to catch these fish. .

Nice 164kg Bluefin tuna landed in killybegs this evening. This fish was caught by accident. The EU quote for BFT is 48,403 ton in 2026. These top predators spend over 3 months in Irish waster each Autumn. Can you explain why Irish fisherman are not allowed to catch these fish. Irish fisherman should be allowed to catch their share of the 48k ton as these fish are abundant in our waters. The EU has annihilated Irish fishing communities. Another throwback photo to when I was on the shore road…! We are creating a lovely space up on the Main St. it’s taking time but this is always going to be the way, it’s never as simple as you think it might be. Especially with old, small buildings.

We are closing on Mondays from now on at the Seafood Shack. Back open again tomorrow, Tuesday 22nd 12:30/7pm.

Our little coffee and creperie is moving along nicely too, floors are down, counter is nearly built as well. It’ll be a nice wee addition to this corner we think and hope.

More lovely messages from happy visitors. Our team is always here to help. What a brilliant first season we have had. Thanks everyone for all the positive feedback. Our last cruise day of the season is on the 17th of September, the same day we welcome the Spanish naval vessel with all interests in the Spanish Armada story about the town. Looking forward to seeing you all.

Open again tomorrow Sunday 13th Sept. 12:30-7:30pm. We are closing Mondays going forward. Then we will reopen with our new shack as soon as we’re able. But for now we will be open Tuesdays to Sundays 12:30-7:30pm.

Really lovely launch of Barrie Quinn’s new book ‘Homegrown’ in the Nesbitt Arms in Ardara this evening. His story is one of perseverance, a heck of a lot of hard work, lots of support from family & friends and some failures before he figured out what he was doing with it all. Growing without using pesticides or chemicals, using plants to help veggies grow for example, he learnt everything the hard way. It’s all in the book, he read us through some of it.

I couldn’t get a copy because of the massive queues. But I am so looking forward to reading it. We need to support organic growers and farmers as much as we’re able?

We’re going to close tomorrow everyone. Sunday the 6th September. Weather not looking great and it really affects our wee business unfortunately. Open again on Monday 7th at the usual time of 12:30pm.

Good news is our barn shack is coming along nicely. Looking at furniture for the seating part and it’s all getting super exciting now.

Isn’t this weather just beautiful? 😂 for anyone wanting to order a seafood shack and have a beer, or get in out of the rain. Ye have the option of going to the Harbour Bar or the Fleet Inn. Both are a stones throw away. I had the bright idea of taking some over last week, the sun was shining and then we had that massive biblical rain so my idea of videoing went out the window, but it was really lovely all the same.. We ordered some wee bits from the restaurant too. Slightly spoiled we were and sincere apologies for our end of August, start of September weather. It’s just awful so far.
