Every fair day, farmers travelled from across County Kerry, bringing cattle, sheep, horses and even pigs into the town. The streets would come alive with livestock, horse-drawn carts and people from every corner of the county, all gathering to buy, sell and trade.
Deals were often sealed with nothing more than a handshake, and for many rural families, Market Day was the social highlight of the month.
The town's pubs and shops did a roaring trade as visitors enjoyed a meal or a pint before making the journey home.
Historic photographs from more than 100 years ago show College Street bustling with people, animals and activity, a world away from the street we know today.
Just like this black-and-white photograph, proudly hanging in O'Donoghue Public House, it's a wonderful reminder of Killarney's busy market-day past.
