In 1896, Ellen and her husband Charlie bought 101 New Street and opened the doors. Her son Charlie went on to run it after them. ❤️

A priest and a nun in the one family… sure it was nearly compulsory back then. 😄

Only 22 days to go until we turn 130. 🤯

Continuing our countdown to 130 years ✨️ 📷

As we look back on the wonderful 130 years of Charlie Foley’s, it’s lovely to see old memories and little pieces of our history being shared with us. ❤️

Irene Hurley kindly shared this lovely letter to Santa, dated 4th November 1973, with her Christmas wishes for a pink coat, a dog and a new red dress! 🎅🏻 Along with it came some wonderful memories of our grandfather Charlie and our mom Eileen. Irene’s family business, Hurley’s Butchers, was just a few doors away from Foley’s.

Irene also mentioned Rinty 1, 2 and probably 3! 😂
There was always a Jack Russell in the building, and they all seemed to end up with the same name… Rinty! 🤭 Another little piece of our history that brought a right smile to our faces 🐶

It’s amazing how these little pieces of the past bring back so many memories and connect generations, even after all these years. ❤️

A huge thank you to Irene and everyone who has been sharing their memories of our family and bar with us. Please keep them coming… we’d love to hear yours! 📜

A huge thank you to for keeping our little front of New Street looking beautiful all summer. The hard work and care you put into it means so much to us. 👏

Mom always took such pride in keeping Charlie Foley’s looking its best, so this one feels extra special. A lovely little bit of recognition for a place that means so much to us. ❤️🌹

Tonight the Killarney Looking Good Awards take place, and seeing all the preparations underway has brought back a very special memory for us. 📷

​Looking back at this photo from October 2000 (26 years ago this very week) when Mom (the late Eileen Foley) was featured outside the pub after Charlie Foley’s won Best Public House. Mom poured her heart and soul into the pub and loved every bit of Killarney, always taking huge pride in keeping our place on New Street looking its absolute best.

Another piece of our history as we continue the countdown to 130 years of Charlie Foley’s. 🍀

Some things may change with time, but the history behind Foley’s certainly lives on. ❤️

As part of our countdown to 130 years of Charlie Foley’s, we’ll be taking a little trip down memory lane every Thursday, sharing some of the photographs, people and stories that have made Foley’s what it is today. ❤️

And what better way to start than with a photo thats 75-80 years old ...

Charlie Foley himself, pictured here with his beautiful daughter Eileen, who was only a little girl of around 4 or 5 years old at the time. 🥹

Charlie is pictured in his trademark brown working jacket, something he was so well known for wearing, alongside a young Eileen.. capturing the second and third generations of Charlie Foley’s in one lovely photograph. 📸
