The Old Schoolhouse by the River

The Old Schoolhouse by the River The Old Schoolhouse was built in 1703 as a Merchants house. Later it became a poor house.

In 1837, which is embossed in the cobbles at the entrance, to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Coronation, it became a school. Today, it is The Old Schoolhouse River Café which specialises in home-made baking, snacks and light meals. Open weekends and bank holidays from the 17th of March 11am to 5.30pm and open full time from June.
