When a former employee of the Pharma giants BMS and Novo Nordisk happens to be in Hole in the Wall, the stories are as if in a university seminar.

In recounting one's experience re cannabinoid receptor blockers for lowering body weight and repeating a question one posed at a Harvard Alumni gathering in London 2 years ago the room brimmed with research ideas.

Hole in the Wall. More than what it says on the packaging!

It was great to be in Aix-en-Provence at a wedding last week. To move on to Villefrance during the Monaco Grand Prix brought back memories. Staying in a huge multi house apartment above the Bantry Bay restaurant for the third time was a joy. But recalling "Any time, Doc" from 1999/2000 seemed to surface this time - when it hadn't before.

That reflected a time when we were kings. Aluminium cruiser yacht moored in the bay. Tender tied up at the edge. Comfortably warm. The sea inviting for a swim.

It was hot this time. Sapped energy. (The cold on return to Dublin suddenly recharged the batteries!)

The future is in the Western European Isles.

It's interesting watching F1 The Movie (F1TM) having once read the books about the topic for a Hole in the Wall ZingSpiel about motor racing and the Irish links thereto titled 'Let's Dance' (2006). It only got mounted once.

F1TM picks up on one story of Irish interest - the crash by the very promising Martin Donnelly.

For some reason the script writer, Ehren Kruger, inserted a number of Irish references. (Influenced by Erin by any chance?) The lead actors have Irish surnames - Hayes, Pearce and McKenna. (An actual Irish actress plays the latter - Kerry Condon).

The absent lucky card moment may stem from Von Tripp and his family crested ring (he was destined to die in an air crash in Shannon Airport - only to change his plan to fly from Düsseldorf to Philadelphia and race instead and be killed the next day in Monza.

Interestingly, Kruger seems to have left out E Irvine references. The unlapping episode by Irvine - as a first race rookie - from Senna and the punch the latter delivered in the Jordan garage would have been ideal. The anger of Schumacher against Coultard due to the crash in the rain is referenced? They could have had an Irvine-equivalent fire in the pit lane. Sonny reflects Phil Hill at the end. Phil became world champion. It meant nothing in the U.S. He devolved to beach racing sedans.

Kruger tapped the Levi's washateria advert early on. Romain Grosjean's crash leading to hand burning is well evident. Kerry Condon is 'Gerri Halliwell - Ginger Spice. Representing Adrian Newey. The Arab buyers - female - reflect the purchase of Newcastle United.

It's clever.

If Hole in the Wall ever scripted 'Let's Dance' for an Eff Movie it would tell a real story. And as Bernie Ecclestone hoped for ... have a really fabulously attractive driver - female. (From the Barbadoes with Irish genes who could sing!)

Ireland Made seems to be a site dedicated to Ireland's transport initiatives

It now features a YouTube video purporting to show the crash of Godwin Meade Pratt Swift's aircraft - patented in 1856.

It is likely to be rubbish.

It claims that three horses were aboard.

Naw. The horses, if such a thing happened, were needed to haul the aircraft up to the top of Foulksrath Castle.

It is a likely AI generated thing based on a description 100 years later by a relative of Swift.

It presents Swift as an eejit. And yet Swift influenced many of the early French fliers.

There's a story of a Venetian gondola hauled through London.

Naw. More misinterpretation.

Swift was 50 years ahead of his time.

And some resented him.

I asked "What should we call a gathering of comics?" We were in the courtyard at the rear of Hole in the Wall. "A Festival of Comics!" said David, a well known comic. "What about a Fringe of Comics?" said I. He liked that. "'Twould refer to a small group". "Rock on" said Alison as she drifted through the tavern.

Hole in the Wall had its own Fringe of Comics!
