This is Aoife McGettigan, a native of Killybegs in Donegal, who caught one of the biggest fish ever caught off Ireland's west coast while home on holidays recently from Australia, where she currently lives.

The blue tunafin caught by Aoife weighs a whopping 760lbs; under Inland Fisheries Ireland's Tuna CHART research programme, the fish cannot be killed but can be tagged and and then released.

Commenting on the monster catch, Declan McGettigan, brother of Aoife and skipper of the Fiona Tee boat on which she caught the fish, said: "Nobody would believe her back in Australia but at least she has the proof to show how big the fish was."

Seems the universe wanted us to take today off β€” and on the very day we’re remembering our dad, Ali. He’d be rolling his eyes, because he never believed in closing the doors.I know he is still here though, standing pride of his place on the roof, in the glistening sun, just as he always did.
We’ll let you know when we’re back, but today belongs to him. πŸͺ½

Interesting πŸ€”

Did you know that an oyster will not produce a pearl unless it has been wounded in some way?

A pearl is actually a healed wound. It forms when an irritant, like a grain of sand or a parasite, enters the oyster’s shell. To protect itself, the oyster secretes layers of a smooth, shiny substance called nacre, coating the intruder over time. Layer by layer, this process continues until a beautiful pearl is formed.

In a way, pearls are a product of painβ€”transforming something unwanted into something valuable. The more pearls an oyster produces, the more precious it becomes.
