Seeking participants for an intergenerational project (August 7th, 11th, 18th and 25th)

Are you aged 16-35? Interested in Health, Social Media, Blogging, and Interacting with all ages?

Background information:
Age Action Ireland is involved in the Project which unites partners from 5 European countries focusing on lifelong learning to support mental and physical health. The project aims are to help older adults to remain an integral part of their communities and to be recognized as valuable members of society. The project is focused on improving one’s own health care, interacting with new media technology and intergenerational dialogue. A number of learning materials have been developed. The current stage of the project involves pilot testing those learning materials and Age Action Ireland is now looking to recruit participants, 10 younger people (aged between 16-35) and 10 older people (aged 60+) to help them pilot test the materials.
Participation in the pilot testing

Participation in the pilot testing involves taking part in 3 learning modules around the following themes:

ü Health Promotion and Disease Prevention
ü Nutrition throughout the Life Course
ü Physical and Cognitive activity
ü Information Communication Technologies (ICT) for social networking
ü Intergenerational Volunteering
ü Combating ageism and age-related stereotyping

Participants will engage in a learning group for 2 full days and 2 half-days in August (the 7th, 11th, 18th and 25th) and with online learning materials at home in their own time at their own pace. There will also be an additional half day spent on an intergenerational activity e.g. healthy cooking, a physical activity, which the pilot participants will decide on.
The course will take place in the Carmelite Centre on Aungier Street, Dublin 2 and in Age Action’s computer lab on Abbey Street, Dublin 2. All participants will receive a certificate of participation upon completion of the modules.
If you would like to participate or know anyone who would then please contact Sam ([email protected]) or Keelin ([email protected]) or call Age Action to find out more on 01-475 69 89 by the 30th of July.
The project is supported by the European Union and the Lifelong Learning Programme, Grundtvig.
