As Heritage Week begins, we are taking a moment to celebrate one of Dylan's most characterful spaces, The Ruby Room.

From 1927 to 1960, Miss Ruby V. Stokes served as Matron of the Royal City of Dublin Hospital. Her office and bedroom were located within the nurses' residence that once occupied this building, in the very space where The Ruby Room stands today.

Known for her unwavering standards and watchful eye, Miss Stokes became a memorable figure in the building's history. Today, The Ruby Room honours her legacy, not only in name but in design. Our handcrafted tables, made by a skilled veneerist on Ireland’s west coast, feature intricate patterns inspired by the nurses' badges. It is a subtle detail, but one we invite you to discover next time you visit.

It's a reminder that while much has changed over the years, the stories that shaped this building remain woven into its fabric.
