The building itself has been a Public House since 1875. Just over 5 years ago the restaurant opened to rave reviews with a menu with all the classics but with a bit of flair. Don't miss Bloomsday at the Oarsman/ Tunney's immortalised in James Joyce's Ulysses! Tunney's aka The Oarsman is hosting a traditional bloomsday breakfast - Traditional Irish Breakfast with mutton kidney's and a Gorgonzola sandwich with a glass of Burgundy or pint of Guinness. Breakfast is being served from 10.30am - 1.30pm
Prizes for best dressed costume & The Oarsman is also hosting a coffee morning for the local community from 10.30 am starring Mary O' Neill as Nora Barnacle & Philip Murphy as James Joyce. Wondering why The Oarsman is also called Tunney's? James Joyce Immortalised Tunney's Bar (now the Oarsman) in his legendary book Ulysses. Tunney's bar was famous for it's Superior Tawny Sherry - featured in Ulysses. We will be celebrating Bloomsday at the Tunney's Writer's Room in the Oarsman on June 16th and serving the traditional Bloomsday Breakfast & Lunch Fare accompanied by Guinness, Sherry & Burgandy Red Wine. Actors will be in attendance in Bloomsday costume - stay tuned for the updates & booking info. Get your costumes ready! 📚
