History behind the name Eleanora's: Drimnagh Castle is home to the spirit of Lady Eleanora Barnwall. Forced to marry her cousin Edmund rather than her true love Sean O’Byrne; a feud lead to the deaths of both Sean and Edmund after their wedding. Eleanora was forbidden her from leaving the castle; however, she escaped and found her way to Sean’s grave in the Dublin Mountains where she stayed until the harsh weather claimed her. Eleanora’s sad apparition has been seen many times wandering Drimnagh castle in search of her love.
