Have you ever wondered why Restaurant Six?

Besides the fact that we’re located at 6 Cavendish Row, there’s another fascinating reason behind the name.

Restaurant Six was once the home of the eccentric chemist and geologist Richard Kirwan, who also served as President of the Royal Irish Academy.

Kirwan was known for inviting friends to visit at six o’clock sharp before removing his door knocker at seven, ensuring the evening wouldn’t be interrupted by latecomers.

He was also remembered for keeping a pet eagle, six large dogs, and for being buried alongside his butler.

As you enjoy our new seasonal dishes, take a moment to step into a piece of Dublin’s history.
