✨ RAKSHA BANDHAN — A THREAD OF LOVE ❤️

In India, Raksha Bandhan is a beautiful celebration of the bond between brothers and sisters.

A sister ties a simple thread, a rakhi, around her brother’s wrist — with a prayer for his happiness and wellbeing. He, in turn, promises to always stand by her.

But the thread represents something deeper: the invisible bonds that hold families together — love without condition, protection without obligation, and the quiet assurance that wherever life takes us, we belong to one another.

The thread is fragile.
The bond is not.

Happy Raksha Bandhan from Rasam 🙏🏻

Some friendships become part of a restaurant’s history — and part of its heart.

Alberto Yoacham, former Chilean Ambassador to Ireland, and his lovely wife Pia have been friends and guests of Rasam almost from the very beginning. Though life has taken them home to Chile, each summer brings the pleasure of welcoming them back through our doors — a tradition we have come to cherish deeply.

And the story has quietly continued into another generation. Their son Manuel has been coming to Rasam since his college days, long before he met his lovely wife Karen. Today, Manuel and Karen live in Dublin and remain familiar faces around our tables.

Restaurants measure time in many ways — years, menus, awards, anniversaries. But perhaps the loveliest measure is people: watching friendships endure, lives unfold, and one generation become two.

Alberto, Pia, Manuel and Karen — thank you for allowing Rasam to be a small part of your family’s story. It was wonderful to have you home again. ❤️

✨ Jumbo Prawns at Rasam 🦐

Fresh turmeric paste, whipped saffron butter and a little fire. Fragrant, succulent, deeply spiced — with a taste that lingers long after the last bite.

Some dishes don’t need much introduction. Just an appetite.

I first met Sade when she was just a little girl. It hardly seems possible that she is now married to Michael and carrying little Reggie in her arms.

Welcoming them back to Rasam, along with the wider family who have shared so many special occasions with us over the years, was a genuine joy. 🙏

Watching children grow up, start families of their own, and return through our doors with the next generation is one of the quiet privileges of running a family restaurant.

Thank you, Sade and Michael, for your friendship, your loyalty, and for allowing Rasam to be a small part of your family’s story. We look forward to watching little Reggie grow, one visit at a time.

We’re truly honoured by these kind words from Shatbhi Basu . ❤️

“If you are in Dublin you’d be nuts if you missed going to Rasam Indian Restaurant in Glasthule. Very awarded but mostly because it serves real Indian food and has the warmest hospitality.”

Thank you, Shatbhi, for your wonderful recommendation.

Some moments remind us that a restaurant can become part of a family’s story.

A huge happy birthday to Conor Kavanagh, who celebrated his 23rd birthday with his Mum Mairead, Dad Shay and younger brother Eoin at Rasam.

Conor was only a few months old when Rasam first opened its doors in 2003. We still remember the little boy who would happily disappear under the table while the grown-ups chatted. Fast forward 23 years and, thankfully, he is now taller than his Dad Shay! 😂

It has been a privilege to watch Conor grow up, while also welcoming generations of the Walsh family through our doors. Mairead’s late Mum, Sheila, was one of our much-loved regular guests, and it is always a pleasure to see Deirdre, Maeve and the rest of the family too.

Three generations. Twenty-three years. Countless memories.

Thank you, Walsh family, for allowing Rasam to be a small part of your family’s journey. Happy Birthday, Conor—we wish you health, happiness and many wonderful years ahead.

✨ MEET THE PEOPLE OF RASAM ✨

Some chefs seek the spotlight. Others quietly become the reason guests return.

Meet Chef Surjeet Rana, our tandoor and bread specialist—the craftsman behind every perfectly blistered naan, every delicate kebab, and every carefully balanced marinade that leaves our kitchen.

Surjeet began his culinary journey at the prestigious Ashok Hotel in New Delhi, the flagship five-star property of the Indian Tourism Development Corporation. From there, he honed his skills at the Grand Hyatt before moving to The Lodhi, home to the legendary Indian Accent—one of the world’s most celebrated Indian restaurants and consistently recognised among the finest dining destinations globally.

In 2021, Surjeet brought that wealth of experience to Rasam.

The tandoor is often described as the heart of an Indian kitchen. It demands patience, intuition, precision and years of practice—qualities that Surjeet brings to work every single day. From marinating meats and seafood to baking every naan and roti to perfection, his hands shape countless dishes that reach our guests’ tables.

At Rasam, we believe great restaurants are built not only on recipes, but on the dedication of people who take pride in their craft.

Thank you, Chef Surjeet, for your skill, your consistency and your unwavering commitment to excellence. We are proud to have you as part of the Rasam family.

☀️ Summer calls for something cool, fragrant, and unforgettable.

Our homemade Kulfi at Rasam is no ordinary ice cream — and you only have to ask anyone who’s tasted it. 🍨

Fresh milk, slowly simmered with saffron threads, rose petals and cardamom pods, until every spoonful carries the perfume of an Indian summer. Served with creamy Rabri, soaked basil seeds and rose pulp, it’s less a dessert and more an experience — one that’s hard to put into words.

Come find us in Dublin and let your senses do the talking. 💛

✨ MEET THE PEOPLE BEHIND RASAM ✨
Our Team. Their Stories. Their Craft.

Today, we would like you to meet Chef Pankaj Kohli.

After graduating with a Diploma in Food Production from the Delhi Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, New Delhi, Pankaj built his career in some of India’s finest kitchens. Before joining Rasam nearly eight years ago, he was part of the culinary team at Amaranta, the flagship Indian restaurant at The Oberoi, New Delhi, one of India’s most celebrated five-star hotels.

Calm, thoughtful and deeply committed to his craft, Pankaj believes that consistency is the true hallmark of a great chef. Over the past eight years, his experience, precision and quiet dedication have helped shape the standards our guests have come to know and trust.

A few things about Chef Pankaj :

🍽️ Favourite dish to cook:
Rasam Platter — “It brings together five distinct starters, balancing sweet, sour, salty, pungent and bitter flavours. I think it is the perfect way to begin a meal.”

🌿 One ingredient you cannot live without?
Vetiver root — “A special ingredient we use at Rasam. When infused, the root imparts a wonderfully earthy, aromatic character that gives a dish a depth of flavour unlike anything else.”

✨ What makes a great Indian dish?
“Patience. If you are rushing a dish, you will never achieve the depth of flavour it deserves. At Rasam, we believe in slow cooking and the traditional art of dum.”

👨‍🍳 Advice to young chefs:
“Give everything you have got in your first three years. Build a strong foundation and never stop learning.”

Thank you, Chef Pankaj, for eight years of dedication, craftsmanship and unwavering commitment to excellence.

We look forward to introducing more of the wonderful people behind Rasam in the coming days.
