Just taking a minute here. Tonight we celebrate the 250th weekly pub quiz at The Circular and it feels worth pausing to acknowledge what an achievement that is.

250 consecutive events is no small feat, especially in an era of once-off events, short runs and shorter attention spans. And it simply wouldn’t happen without the commitment, care and tireless work of our quiz host, Colin McKeown

250 quizzes is roughly 1,000 hours of live trivia, with at least another 1,000 hours of prep behind the scenes. Colin goes the extra mile every single week. Writing original questions, designing slides, finding out who’s coming so he can give shout outs or sneak in a few Easter eggs to delight a table.

Every Wednesday he arrives early to set up the room like a wedding planner, make sure everybody has a view of the screen, that pals are sitting beside pals (or potential pals), and that everyone has as good a night as possible. Colin is the consummate host, taking what he does and the enjoyment of his guests seriously because he genuinely cares about people having a great time.

Over 250 quizzes, Colin has built an incredibly loyal following, with the Quiz Ultras attending every Wednesday, alonsgside the newcomers he welcomes like regulars, with 250 almost always sold out events testament to what he does and how he does it.

Colin is a modest man and will probably not like this post but we couldn’t let the moment pass without saying something!

So here’s to Colin, and the next 250 🍻
