Howth has a community like no other and a big part of this is down to the relationship between our locals and our shops. Huge overseas companies have a huge impact on the rate of progress for Ireland's small businesses and independent brands, so please think about buying Irish this Christmas! What a good idea by Dorans - calling all Howth businesses advertise Green Friday!
This Friday get away from black and think Green!
The ‘Green Friday’ campaign that was launched this year encourages people to shop locally and support small independent Irish businesses this Christmas. It aims to connect local businesses together so that we can work and support one another and hopefully develop Howth as a community that can thrive sustainably.
By supporting local businesses such as ours, you’re not only boosting our local economy but building a stronger community. As well as this, you’re reducing your environmental impact – something we should all be conscious of right now.
Instead of stocking up for this Christmas in the Black Friday sales and buying things from huge consumers abroad, please shop local.
This Christmas we’ve decided to make up hampers using all of our own fresh fish and shellfish – among our own we have gotten in a huge range of Irish products; cheeses, breads, relishes etc. Hampers can be preordered and customized to your liking, the perfect present for a foodie. We also have set hampers that are available to view in the School of Fish next door, or should we say Santa’s grotto – perfect to bring to a Christmas event. Stay tuned on our Facebook and Instagram, we’ll be posting photos of the various hampers.
Make sure you visit our grotto next door when you're down in the shop getting your Green Friday deals this weekend! If you're lucky there'll be some free nibbles left.
