Coffee has stirred up controversy for centuries. In 1511, authorities in Mecca tried to ban it, fearing it sparked too much lively conversation in the local coffeehouses. Then in 1674, London's Women's Petition Against Coffee saw wives complain their husbands were spending far too long in coffeehouses and not enough time at home. The husbands, of course, petitioned right back.

Through every debate, coffee kept doing what it does best: bringing people together. Five centuries on, we are proud to keep coffee culture thriving across Ireland.
