A touch of pink.....
Paige's doting God mammy gave me a brief and trusted me to come up with a suitably special cake for Paige's Christening. This is my happy place at its best, soft colours with just a touch of vintage elegance. Cake crush going on right here :0)

Leanne & Jason
So my catch up is a little (big bit) behind and somewhat out of sync to say the least. I can't believe I am only getting around to sharing what was such a wonderful privilege. Leanne and Jason were just the most unassuming and relaxed couple! Set in the stunning Red Door Country House in Fahan, their day was a perfect reflection of them, it was understated yet full of subtle detailing which is exactly what they wanted in their cake. Their blush colour palette was soft and romantic and beautifully offset by the country house location. Such an amazing couple who deserved every minute of what was a perfect day. Thank you both so much for asking me to be a little part of it. x

And another!
I'm feeling quite proud this evening! For Ann & Andrew having their day recognised and shared so beautifully. I just loved being part of their day so much......the night I went for a quick chat ended up in a 2 hour visit with what felt like friends!
Of myself (something you won't hear too often) and of my work being worthy to have been part of such a special day, but mostly of my hubby, who doesn't get anywhere near the recognition he deserves.
Yep......my poor other half plays such an important part in this wee journey of mine, more than he realises (or maybe he does and he is just scared to complain lol) He listens to the endless ramblings of a cake crazy wife as she thinks out loud, he advises, supports and critiques and he doubles as both delivery man and co-pilot but I am also lucky to benefit from his talent as a photographer! (you can probably tell the difference between the cakes I have had to photograph myself and the ones done right!)
So I want to share his post rather than just the link as I feel that he deserves the recognition for his work. So have a look at Ann and Andrews beautiful day (my wee cake is in there) and pop by Patrick's page and say hello.

Oh and sorry, this turned out far longer than I had intended!

I am so delighted to see Erin and Martins wedding (and my bakes) featured in the wedding journal online. Erin.....where do I start! The most deserving of any bride for a day and lifetime of happiness. There are just not enough words or compliments, beautiful on the inside and out......and the dress......aw I just love the dress!

Rustic Charm
Diarmaid and Kate's wedding day reflected them perfectly. They organised a party! A perfectly executed yet relaxed party in the beautiful Red Door Country House in Fahan and it came together so beautifully. Staying true to the understated elegance of the day we went with a 2 tier buttercream design with a huge decadent chocolate orange truffle cutting cake that was encased in dark chocolate ganache. The flowers were such an important part of the day for Kate, she wanted informal and rustic. It was a pleasure to collaborate with John Paul on the floral element of the cakes design and I just loved how perfectly partnered they were, pretty much like Diarmaid and Kate themselves!

Blushing blooms......
Shannon and Aidy had their reception in the Villa Rose Hotel and what a beautiful set up they had! Everything was coordinated and dressed to perfection, soft romantic pinks with that perfect touch of vintage elegance. I think I had more than one swoon moment setting up their cake......the romance of a wedding is never lost on me!

Seainin & Llyr
Every wedding cake is special but this design will forever hold a special place in my heart as the first time I made it was for our best friends wedding. This version was for Seainin & Llyrs big day in the idyllic Harvey's Point. Setting up the cake in the ballrooms gorgeous bay window provided a first for me.......an audience lol! The window attracted quite a few hotel guests from the bordering walkway who spectated (photographed and videoed) while I worked! Admittedly strange and unnerving it was also quite funny (once I got used to it) Ok so back to the cake. I really do love its timeless elegance and even though I always forget how much work is involved in its intricacy it is worth every last one of its little individual appliquéd pieces. A little labour of love for a celebration of love!

Happiness is......a cup of tea with my best friend!
(ok a cup of tea and a packet of dark chocolate digestives)
We are ladies of simple pleasures Susan and me, easily pleased - except when it comes to our tea! "It just tastes better from a China teacup".....I laughed the first time I heard that, but she was right, and it's kinda become our thing. We've shared good times and drowned our sorrows in bad over many a cuppa! So as obvious as it probably was, that wee tea cup reflected more than just a love of tea. It was made with love and gratitude for the wonderful friend that I have in my life. The generous to a fault, beautiful, kind and supportive person who is my family, friend and my sister by heart.

Purity.....
I just love how a pure colour palette and extended centre tier can give such a feeling understated simplicity to detailed design. An all white colour scheme for Teigans Communion cake with just a little bit sparkle to her name to match her wee personality!

Orla & Barry
Trying to decide where to start with catching up and I came across these, decision made! Orla & Barry had one of the most fairy tale days that I have had the privilege to have been a part of. I still get that little swoon when I see some of their photos, the detailing was just breathtaking, from the cherry blossom tree lined aisle, the quirky vw beetle, the most fabulous flowers I have ever seen and of course Orla herself, I just loved it all! Their cakes and cupcakes were inspired by various elements of their day including their flowers, the blossom trees and their stationery with one incredibly special (and nerve wrecking) cake taking pride of place. Orlas granny made a very impressive fruit cake which she lovingly fed for months before handing it over to me to decorate for her. I have never felt so protective over a cake in my life lol! Such a beautiful sentiment and such an honour to be trusted with her labour of love. Thanks to Orla & Barry (and Granny!) for that trust. Thanks to Paula Donnelly for sharing her beautiful photos with me.
