After 11 years, this week we say goodbye to our manager, colleague and friend, Damien Ryan, as he and lor Ryan head off to begin an exciting new chapter together in Abu Dhabi.
Damien joined Lowryโs back in 2015 and has played a huge part in the place ever since. He took enormous pride in what he did, set very high standards and was always looking for ways to make Lowryโs that little bit better. His judgement was trusted, he led by example and his contribution over the past eleven years has been enormous.
Just as importantly, Damien is simply a great fella. Heโs one of those rare people who gets on with everyone. Customers, musicians, suppliers, staff and locals all took to him straight away, and anyone who has spent time in Lowryโs over the years will know exactly what we mean. His good humour, decency and genuine interest in people helped create the atmosphere that so many people associate with the place today.
Weโre naturally sorry to see him go, but we couldnโt be happier for him and Lorraine as they start this new adventure together.
Thankfully, it isnโt a complete goodbye. Damien has kindly agreed to keep helping us behind the scenes from time to time, particularly with some of our social media, so youโll still see him popping up every now and again.
A final word of thanks to Ben and Tash Connemara Blue When we asked them to make a bespoke Connemara gift to mark Damienโs eleven years with us, they quietly refused to take any payment. It was a lovely gesture and says an awful lot about the regard in which Damien is held, not just by us, but by the wider community.
Thanks for everything, Damo. We wish you and Lorraine nothing but happiness and success in Abu Dhabi.
Enjoy every minute of itโyouโve earned it.
