Why pay cash everywhere, instead of a debit card?
Think of this example: with a 50 euro note circulating in the economy.
- I have a 50 euro note in my pocket, I take it to a restaurant and pay for my dinner.
- The restaurant owner uses the same 50 euros to pay a bill in his car wash.
- Car wash owner pays his barber a haircut.
- The hairdresser uses this 50 euros to shop in the market.
After an unlimited number of payments, the 50 Euro note, remains a 50 Euro note, has fulfilled the circuit that was intended for it, has fulfilled the purpose of all those who used it, as a means of payment.
The bank had no interference, therefore, it gained nothing from these transactions.
NICE , WHAT IF ?
- IF I go to a restaurant, pay digitally with a debit card, what happens?
- the cost of the digital payment, charged by the restaurant owner, including transaction costs as a percentage, is on average 2.5%, which means 1.25 EUR for each subsequent payment transaction.
(THIS MEANS THAT EVERY DIGITAL PAYMENT TRANSACTION COSTS €1.25 EACH)
- the same rate, applies when the restaurant owner pays his digital bill at the car wash,
- the same rate, applies when the owner of the car wash, paid the hairdresser,
- this operation is repeated, consecutively, in the next payments, etc.
So, after the first 36 transactions, €50 fell to only €5 and the remaining €45 became bank property...

In addition, the cost of a debit card is on average €2.25 per month, so €50 after a month of savings is only €47.75.
