Established in 1789 the pub is a landmark in the small village of Boolteens and a simply heart-warming, hospitable premises for its locals. As it is located on the Dingle Peninsula the trade enjoys the passing tourists-which are at their peak mid June-September to take in the surroundings, entertainment and well served drink of the pub.. Murphy’s Bar boasts the Sliabh Mish mountain range to the rear of the pub while the front of the pub faces the Macgillycuddy Reeks, including Ireland’s highest mountain peak –Carrauntoohill. A booming local trade to date, the pub is highly connected with local organisations and clubs. Present owner William Murphy (since 1988), along with his wife Eileen renovated the premises in 2001.
