Behind every small business, there is a human being❤️
Today, we came across a comment online that deeply saddened us. A simple question from someone looking for a good breakfast recommendation was unfortunately used as an opportunity to publicly tear down our cafe and judge our hard work. Seeing this made us want to share a few honest words, not to argue, but because we feel it’s important to talk about the reality of running a small business.
Running a cafe isn't just a job for us – it’s our life. We’ve been proudly serving Carrick for over 4 years. We’ve had our incredible highs and our challenging lows, but every single day, we pour our hearts into what we do because we truly love this work.
It is so easy for someone to write a careless comment online, without realizing how quickly those words can cut a business’s wings and damage years of hard work. The hospitality industry is beautiful, but it is also incredibly tough.
We are not perfect, and we always welcome constructive feedback directly – it helps us grow! But there is a huge difference between helping a business improve and simply trying to bring it down.
We believe in community over competition. That’s why you’ll often see us supporting our neighbors – grabbing Sunday breakfast at , buying Acai bowls at , enjoying tapas at , or getting ice cream at .
We believe that playing fair and lifting each other up is what makes Carrick so special.
To everyone who has supported us over the last 4 years – thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your kindness is what keeps us going.
