We are definitely experiencing the Scairbhín (Scaraveen) here in Camp this week.

“Scairbhín na gcuach, garbh í agus fuar.”
From the phrase “garbh shíon na gcuach” - rough weather of the cuckoo.

Here in Kerry, Scairbhín refers to bad weather between mid April and mid May. It coincides with the arrival of the cuckoo.
