As our book swap is such a hit we have decided to run a book of the month. We will choose book each month to advertise and you could run round and grab a copy from Bantry book shop.
To start us off local author Charlie Daly has given us a signed copy of his new book “I will follow you anywhere”

☀️📚 We hope everyone has had an amazing summer so far and made the most of all this beautiful sunshine! 🌸😎

It’s been a wonderfully busy summer here at De Barras, both in the café ☕ and at home keeping up with the kids! ❤️

Now that the rain has made a little appearance 🌦️, it’s the perfect excuse to slow down, curl up with a great book 📖, and lose yourself in a new adventure while it passes.

And if you’re out and about, why not pop in and cool off with one of our refreshing iced coffees 🧊☕ or try our iced matcha with wild strawberry syrup 🍓💚… it’s a customer favourite for a reason! 😋

🎨 A huge thank you to the incredibly talented Mel Spurling for creating this stunning mural of Bantry Harbour for us! 🌊⛵

The mural captures some familiar sights, and you might even spot a few local boats you recognise 👀

If you’re passing by, pop in for a coffee and take a look for yourself.

Mel also creates beautiful original artwork, with proceeds supporting the west_cork_jesters. A selection of her pieces are available to purchase from the walls of our café, so you can take home something special while supporting a fantastic cause ❤️

📚☕️ De Barras x Bantry Bookshop Children’s Summer Book Club ☕️📚

We’re delighted to be teaming up with Bantry Bookshop this summer to encourage our young readers!

📖 Pick up a children’s book from Bantry Bookshop and receive a voucher for a FREE children’s hot chocolate or milkshake at De Barras.

🏖 Enjoy your book over the summer holidays, then during the last week before school starts, bring us either:
🎨 A drawing of your favourite character or scene

✏️ A short write-up telling us about the book
We’ll proudly display all the entries on our wall and there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place!

Every child who takes part will receive a special De Barras Summer Reading Club certificate and a little treat to say thank you for joining us.

We can’t wait to see all your wonderful drawings and hear about the stories you’ve enjoyed this summer ❤️

Need to thank someone for doing a small favour?
Maybe they helped you move a sofa!
Maybe they fed the cat!
Maybe they spent 20 minutes fixing a problem that would have taken you three days and several angry phone calls!

Traditionally, you’d buy them a bottle of wine, some flowers, or a box of chocolates.

But let’s be honest…
Half the population doesn’t drink wine,Flowers die and chocolates mysteriously disappear before they ever reach the intended recipient.

Instead, give them a De Barras Thank You Card.
It gets them any drink and any sweet treat they fancy.
Coffee and cake? Sorted.
