Things Around The Algiers: The Sea Fan

If you’ve spent any time in The Algiers, you’ll know the place is full of things that have accumulated stories along the way.

This one goes back a bit.

Ann and I found this sea fan washed up on a beach at Topolobampo, on Mexico’s Sea of Cortez, in 1991. We brought it home with us, somehow kept it intact through several moves and, more than 30 years later, it now sits on the mantel here at The Algiers.

Quite a few of the odd things around the pub have a story attached to them, and most people who see them every day have no idea what those stories are.

So we’re going to start telling a few of them.

First up: a little piece of the Sea of Cortez that travelled a very long way to end up in Baltimore, West Cork.
