One of the greatest things about the RORY GALLAGHER INTERNATIONAL TRIBUTE FESTIVAL is seeing so many familiar faces return year after year. Our shared love of music brings us together every summer for a weekend filled with great tunes, laughter, and the best of craic.

One of those unforgettable characters was Seán Ó Cuinn. We are deeply saddened to hear of his sudden passing.

Seán would roll into town on the Thursday or Friday, but before long he'd already be talking about the songs he was planning for the Sunday morning Open Mic Session. He was a familiar face at the session for many years, from the days when Barry Barnes hosted it right through to recent festivals with Mark S Black and David Hawkins. Whether he was on percussion, accompanying other musicians, or playing a song or two on his guitar, Seán simply loved the music, the people, and the craic.

I shared a drink with him on the Sunday night of this year's Rory G. As we said our goodbyes, our last words to each other were, "See you next year" :(

I came across this clip of Seán on percussion playing with Mark and David at this year's festivals Open Mic Session. The smile on his face says it all. It perfectly captures his love of music, his infectious spirit, and how much he enjoyed being surrounded by music friends and having the craic.

We are truly saddened by his passing.
