- The heritage gardens at Burtown are made up of several areas, including large herbaceous borders, shrubberies, a rock garden, a yew walk divided by a pergola, a sundial garden, an old orchard, a sculpture garden, a more formal stable yard garden and a large woodland garden surrounded on all sides by water.

- The Green Barn Restaurant serves brunch Wednesday to Sunday from 9:00 - 11:30, lunch Wednesday to Sunday from 12:45 - 15:45 and dinner Friday and Saturday 18:30 - 21:00

- Jo's Pantry, is a deli & artisan food shop selling lots of good things to eat. We stock homemade pestos, freshly baked breads, preserves, chutneys, olives and a whole lot more delicious products. We have an eclectic range of interior decor accessories, French & Dutch antiques, books, paintings, sculpture, prints, books and cards.

- The Stable Yard Luxury Accommodation, a beautiful, characterful house full of family art and antiques. It has an old-world feel and cosy touches like open fires, wood burning stoves and an Aga in the kitchen, but with all the luxuries you need for contemporary living such as wifi throughout. It’s fully kitted-out and comes serviced and ready to go. It’s suitable for up to 6 people staying in three bedrooms. There are two large bathrooms with a double ended bath , a separate large rain shower, as well as a separate downstairs cloakroom. The separate Studio Apartment can sleep two people and can be booked with The Stable Yard House, increasing parties to 8 people or more. All guests of the Stable Yard have 24/7 access to the gardens.

Come early and make a day of it, with great food, cocktails and drinks throughout the afternoon, followed by our parkland barbecue before ABBAESQUE take to the stage at 6.30pm.

Weekend dining at Burtown.

As the gardens begin to quieten for the evening, The Green Barn comes to life.

Much of what finds its way onto the table begins here at Burtown — produce harvested from the estate, flowers gathered from the Walled Garden, and a menu by Sylvain and his team that follows the seasons.

Come early for a cocktail at the bar, settle in for dinner, and stay a little longer as evening falls over the gardens.

And if you’re joining us this weekend, the lobster is particularly worth coming for.

Join us on Sunday 6 September for a full afternoon and evening at the estate, with pre-show lunch served from 12.00–4.30pm, botanical cocktails, a barbecue in the parkland, and ABBAESQUE live from 6.30pm.

One extraordinary Sunday at Burtown.

Join us on Sunday 6 September for a long, leisurely afternoon of food, cocktails and live music, culminating in ABBAESQUE performing in the parkland from 6.30pm.

Arrive early and settle in for a pre-show lunch, served from 12.00–4.30pm across The Green Barn, the Floral Garden Tent and the terrace, with seasonal dishes, botanical cocktails and plenty of time to enjoy the estate.

As the afternoon moves into evening, the barbecue begins in the parkland, the drinks keep flowing and the stage comes alive with all the ABBA classics.

The August Bank Holiday is one of our favourite weekends of the summer.

Wander through the gardens, enjoy a long lunch in The Green Barn, settle in for a cocktail, or stay the night in the Stable Yard. With the borders at their seasonal best and one last Studio Apartment available on Sunday night, it’s a lovely time to slow down and spend the day at Burtown.

Summer is in full swing at Burtown, and this weekend is looking rather special.

The gardens are overflowing with colour, the Farm Walks are freshly mown, botanical cocktails are being poured, and the terrace is waiting for long, lazy lunches and evenings with friends.

The traditional shrubbery—once an essential feature of every country garden—has quietly slipped into the background. Yet, with thoughtful planting, it can become one of the richest and most atmospheric spaces of all.

We are delighted to welcome Daphne Shackleton to Burtown House & Gardens for an inspiring morning exploring how these overlooked areas can be reimagined with shrubs, perennials, grasses and bulbs to create gardens full of beauty, movement and seasonal interest.
