We’re absolutely delighted and grateful to share Bastion Kitchen has won Best Sustainability Practices in Westmeath! 🌱
Thank you to our amazing team and wonderful customers who support the small changes that make a big difference.

Sustainability is at the heart of what we do in the café every day — from reducing food waste and composting our coffee grounds, to prioritising locally sourced ingredients, organic where possible and using recyclable or compostable packaging wherever possible too. We’re also proud to encourage reusable cups, offering a discount to customers when they bring their own reusable cup. We are constantly looking for ways to reduce our energy and water use.

This award means a lot to us and motivates us to keep improving and doing our part for the environment. Thank you for being part of the journey 💚🌱💚

The Very Best of Luck to St Brigid’s as they head into Sunday’s All-Ireland Club Final in Croke Park! 🏆

It’s been an unforgettable journey - winning the Connacht Final against Moycullen on Baby Cormac’s 1st birthday, followed by the brilliant semi-final victory over Scotstown on Cormac’s birthday to book the place in the final. Special memories made already.
From all of the team at the café, and from Annie, Emily and Baby Cormac - we’ll be shouting on Dad and the whole team. There’s been great support from everyone calling in, with plenty of good wishes being passed on. 💚❤️
No birthday celebrations needed this Sunday - just the celebration of bringing the Andy Merrigan Cup back across the Shannon. ☘️

Meet Ann from Bastion Kitchen

This July marks a wonderful milestone for Ann, as her beloved café, Bastion Kitchen, celebrates 12 years of serving delicious and wholesome food.

Ann is passionate about great food, new challenges, and all the fun things life has to offer. A people-person through and through, she loves connecting with her customers—even if she’d happily leave the accounting to someone else!

A busy mum of three, Ann’s youngest is just seven months old, adding even more energy and joy to her bustling life.

Health and wellbeing are at the heart of everything Ann does. A strong believer in the power of holistic therapies and nutritious food, she sees every dish as a way to nourish both body and soul.

Bastion Kitchen is also open in Heritage Park, Moate, nestled in a lush green heritage park with beautiful walking trails and a playground—a perfect spot to relax and unwind in nature. Whether you’re grabbing goodies, soups, or fresh salads after a run or simply soaking up the peaceful surroundings, the café is a little haven. Ann even plans to bring yoga sessions to this gorgeous café space, so stay tuned for exciting things to come!

This weekend, you’ll find Ann and her team at the Yoga Picnic in Lilliput, Mullingar, where they’ll be serving vibrant salads, protein balls, and coffee. She’s grateful to all her wonderful suppliers for providing the gorgeous ingredients that make their food so special.
