Membership now open all levels of golfer considered. Brief History
1895 - 2009

Affiliation was made to the golfing Union of Ireland GUI in 1905 under the Captaincy of Mr R Hampton,B.A Head Master of Preston House. The first site of the Club was probably on "The Island" between the Portlaoise and Ballyroan Roads.It is not known when the club moved to Ballymullen, but what is certain is,that the Cl

ub and its Links were based in Ballymullen in the years just prior to 1920. (Abbeyleix Golf Club was one of the only two Golf Clubs in existance in Laois, the other being Portarlington.Geen fees were charged at 2/- (10p) per day.) In 1921 the Club moved out to Heywood, Ballinakill. Laois. In 1927 the Club moved to Rathmoyle, Abbeyleix. On 23rd Sep 1930 the Ladies were affiliated to the ILGU. In 1932 the Club returned to Ballymullen. In October 1934 it was decided to use Rathmoyle as a winter Links ( From the 1st November 1934 to 1st May 1935)

In 1937 the Golf Club was closed. The Club was re-established on 28th May 1948 at Rathmoyle Abbeyleix. In June 1949 the Club was registered as a licenced premises for the sale of intoxicating liquor. Abbeyleix Golf Club was established as an 18 Hole Golf Course 17th September 2000 ( Patrick Murphy GUI officialy opened the Golf Course)

Last call for Junior Summer Camp.

A few places remain for the Abbeyleix Golf Club Junior Summer Camp, starting tomorrow. Three mornings filled with PGA professional coaching and fun golf for young players aged 7 to 13.

The camp runs from July 21st to 23rd, 9.30am to 12.30pm each day.

The Abbeyleix Golf Club Summer Camp is open for registration, the camp runs from July 21-23, 9.30am to 12.30pm. For ages 7-13.

The 53rd Open Week Fun Day at Abbeyleix Golf Club.
Wednesday 15th July from 3pm.

The Fun Day is one of the great days in our calendar and it is open to absolutely everyone. You do not need to be a member. You do not need a handicap. You do not even need to play golf.

Longest Drive. Accuracy Drive. Four Holes, Three Clubs. Nearest the Pin. How Low Can You Go putting. And the 18th Relay Race, which has to be seen to be believed.

Roots Restaurant will be firing up the BBQ and The Wicklow Man will be providing the music, so bring the family, bring the friends, and come and enjoy an evening at the club.

Come and play. All are welcome.
