🌄 The Story of Wae Rebo
Wae Rebo is a remote and ancient village located about 1,200 meters above sea level in Flores, Indonesia. Known as the “village above the clouds,” it is famous for its unique traditional houses called Mbaru Niang, which have a distinctive cone shape.
The village dates back over 100 years and is home to the Manggarai people who still preserve their ancestral traditions and way of life. Visitors are welcomed through a traditional ceremony as a sign of respect to the ancestors.
Wae Rebo has been recognized internationally for its cultural preservation and received an award from UNESCO for maintaining its authentic heritage.
