KELSEY BOYER + MELISSA RIITANO_We were part of the crew at the OG Publik Kitchen, slinging espresso + eggs in the off-season while slaying it on the mountain in the winter, securing snowboard sponsorships + starting a nonprofit along the way!

VI TRAN + CARLY LUNDGREN_Picnic Cafe + Amour Spreads: Between the two of us, we’ve managed, been baristas AND been a pastry chef at Publik. Our relationship with Publik led us to becoming owners of Amour Spreads + Picnic Cafe—and our team still makes all the sweets + treats + jam for Publik! .gnar

BILL COKER_Red Iguana: While drinking Publik coffee, we created new relationships with Missy’s architect, relator + contractor. Red Iguana 2 expansion was designed at Publik. (Also, the chapters for Bill’s autobiography were written at Publik’s tables!)

ELI KERR: A coffee date with my kids! Publik isn’t a place that contributed to one specific memory, but dozens: board meetings, romantic dates, crying with my mentor, parties + epic-long work days building Gnarly Nutrition. Publik is a community place to make lasting magic happen.

We've come a long way in 10 years, but COFFEE is still at the center of everything we do!

We take to heart that coffee has a far reaching social and environmental impact. We partner with importers that have strong relationships at origin + we pay a premium for coffees, allowing producers a more positive impact on their quality of life. Through these partnerships, we source sustainable + uniquely delicious coffees that align with our values of "quality over quantity" and "planet over profit".

⚡️ROASTING
We use a meticulous approach to highlight each unique flavor from the coffees we source. We have a regular routine to examine each roasted batch + we leverage technology to collect + analyze data. This makes our coffees deliciously consistent week after week.

⚡️Our online store takes orders + we ship. Our roastery takes wholesale orders every Monday for delivery to your cafe or office on Thursdays. Order in 1 # or 5 # increments — we’ve got you covered. We also do special label bags for corporate gifts, fundraisers + marketing swag. We welcome any size order, 10-10,000 bags. (We might need some extra lead time for 10,000!) Buy local. Support local. PUBLIK KITCHEN
⚡️Same soul, new silhouette.
Not bigger, just better.

After quietly applying bandaids behind our old, sweet walls (and under the floors) for 24 years, the time came for a literal breakdown followed by a more sustainable, full rebuild in 2021. First, we invited SLCFD to do some training for a week. *you'll wanna check out the video - turns out, there aren't that many opportunities to cut open roofs that aren't actively on fire (also turns out, if you have a bunch of those dudes on your roof, a whole lotta people give you a call and ask if everything's OK!). We salvaged some of the old bricks (you see 'em when you walk in) and rehung the OG pendant lights. We (re)opened in May with solar + a roof that will host beehives this spring. It has the same cozy dining room, plus a state of the art kitchen. There are Irish whiskeys, Bloody Marys + mimosas on our cocktail menu. PK has once again become your place to gather for delectable grub + coffee on the daily. Countless memories have been made in our cherished 9th + 9th neighborhood and we love how this love has transcended mere brick + mortar. From the bottom of our hearts, we are grateful for you, Salt Lake City.

We took our already too good to be true toast to the next level. PK is back in the 9th + 9th neighborhood with Toast and Gravy, French Toast, Steak + Eggs and Hash. We also have your favorite B.L.T., Publik Burger and Chicken Salad Melt. With all our local partners, we're serving the freshest food to one of Salt Lake's favorite neighborhoods.

SARAH SOVEREEN: I learned about a life-changing design program at the U of U (thanks to my future profs, Cord Bowen + Elpitha Tsoutsounakis) while working at Publik Avenues. I spent too much time on homework, but I had amazing coworkers + bosses to look up to!

RICK BLACK_Retired SLCFD: Prior to my retirement for SLCFD, my crew from Station 4 + I would start our shift at Publik Ed’s. A year before my departure, an estate vineyard + winery was planned at our corner booth. Five years later and a lot of Publik Coffee: Voila! Meet Mountainville Vineyard + Winery.

ISAAC ATENCIO + ERIC STONE_Coffee Culture: Missy inspired + championed us to build our new shop in Rose Park! Publik Coffee was one of our main inspirations as an incredible 3rd space in an up-and-coming neighborhood. The meeting room at Publik came in clutch while planning last year.


THIRD SUN: We’ve met with clients, gotten some work done + hung out with friends. In 2021, it was an absolute joy designing + building their new website, reflecting their culture + their no-nonsense commitment to great coffee + sustainability. Congrats on 10 years!

R**E RECOVERY CENTER: As we celebrate 50 years, we reflect upon the lasting impact of Publik’s support to survivors, beginning with our Hope + Healing Gala + extending to the specialty crafted Recovery Benas roast fundraiser. Here’s to unity + shared moments over coffee!

MIKE SQURES: Publik’s been the go-to meeting spot for friends, first dates + especially work. But most meaningful to me are the ties I’d bike over and study for law school exams + ultimately the bar exam; the feeling that if I’d fail it felt better with some Publik Coffee in hand. Everyone from any walk of life has a place at Publik.

We all saw the story in September 2017 when a 50 year institution, "Big Ed's", abruptly + mysteriously closed its doors. A few days later, we got the call : “Hey! We think a Publik would be great here!" We thought: "Hmm ... Yep, Publik Ed's!" (get it? ;)

This little 852 sq footer was a doozy of a renovation. So much beloved history, enveloped in out-of-code and non-conforming EVERYTHING. But we always work with + and they know how to make things right.

Big Ed's was that hole in the wall spot your mom loved in college for burgers, beer, and coffee. With the addition of a breakfast menu, Publik Ed's is now your favorite U of U dive spot. Just a little less dive-y. Ok, ok a lot less dive-y. There is such a thing as too dive-y.

RENYA NELSON + DANE NEGREY_Founders, Brand+Aid_We couldn’t be any more stoked to create all of the merchandise that adorns the logo of our community favorite! Publik: where dreams get scripted onto napkins, where small biz owners get their start + where relationships are forever bonded.

AARON BOYCE_Friend of Ballpark + Youth Summer Programs: Within your walls, I helped organize events for the Ballpark Neighborhood: a free kids carnival, a free hotdog lunch + a community wide clean-up! Love you guys + thanks for your support!

MOSAIC YOGA
Where would we be without Publik Space? The Mosaic Yoga Team owes many thanks Publik for opening their arms + doors in 2020 to a group of yoga teachers as the pandemic erupted. We were determined to stick together and to continue offering yoga classes to the community. When word spread that a beloved studio was closing, Publik opened its doors to the new group, “Mosaic Yoga” that provided a safe hybrid environment for yoga. Now, our group is thriving in person at 1991 South 1100 East. As they were at Publik Space, classes are still by donation.

WES WOOD + DUNCAN ALLRED: Publik was the place where I reconnected with an old friend, and it was there that we convinced each other to quit our dead end jobs to pursue our true passions: illustration and writing.

JASON SANDERS_EXECUTIVE CHEF:
I joined the Publik team in 2021 as their first ever Executive Chef. It was quite a ride + a challenge to help rebuild Publik Kitchen, keeping the old vibe + menu, but elevating the quality and assuring the food is even better! As a distiller, brewer, and French trained chef, I appreciate working with a team that not only values their customers, but also values their employees and their community. Publik creates an inclusive atmosphere for everyone, while maintaining a quality product: "We Give A S**t."
