day's notice. The Gimme Pies ovens heat up at 4am and continue to produce delicious products daily until 1pm - just in time for a hungry breakfast crowd. Although our main customers are local restaurants, pubs and cafes, we also sell directly to the public with a low minimum order (RP 200,000). Phone calls and messages are almost always answered directly by the owner, Kadek, herself. Be assured that you will be greeted with warmth and a smile whether you speak English, Indonesian or Balinese. What makes Gimme Pies unique? It has taken Kadek years of working with a Kiwi chef to develop her line of savory treats. She is constantly experimenting in the kitchen to develop new products while remaining true to the traditional concept of a hearty Kiwi pie. Pies have been around for centuries and date back to numerous cultures including the ancient Greeks and Egyptians. Their fame, however, comes from medieval England when hardworking chefs using game fillings readily at hand used this form of cooking to present elaborate and decorative pastries to earn favor with kings and noblemen at their banquets. The ability to turn common game filling such as pigeon, magpie (hence the name pie), rabbit, pheasant and swan was an achievement both practical and artistic. The concept has remained a large part of the British culture and although the elaborate presentation has been simplified over time, this hearty, satisfying dish spread to all of her colonies. Each colony has adapted the concept and developed a version of their own. Kadek has worked closely with a Kiwi chef to develop a product familiar to the favorites that can be found at any bakery, petrol station or supermarket back in New Zealand.
