Gastronomy connects people! That's why we were thrilled to participate in JRE-Croatia Chefs@Sea project last week which for years has been bringing together top chefs from Croatia and Europe. The chefs do not just cook together; they dive deep into local flavors, ingredients, and stories. Each guest chef held a masterclass for the host restaurant's team, encouraging professional growth and the exchange of knowledge on both sides.

For this year's edition, Vila Rova and Chef Marin Pleše hosted Italian Chef Christian Benvenuto from La Filanda restaurant.

To show him the best of Krk island, we visited OPG Šegulja to taste their excellent olive oil and fig and melon jam, followed by the boutique winery San Apollinare, where we enjoyed local prosciutto, cheese, and our northernmost Pošip wine.

The highlight of the day was cooking in the Vila Rova garden overlooking the sea. Using freshly caught Kvarner scampi, Chef Benvenuto prepared a creamy risotto with lemon, almonds, and pickled fig leaf, along with an innovative octopus dish featuring an artichoke wrapped in edible silver. Chef Pleše prepared a buzara made with seabass stock and figs.

We rounded off this beautiful gathering with great conversation and a glass of Tomac Planet A sparkling wine. Check out the photo gallery below to feel the atmosphere!

Gastronomija spaja ljude! Zato smo bili oduševljeni što smo prošli tjedan sudjelovali u projektu JRE Hrvatske- Chefs@Sea, koji već godinama okuplja vrhunske chefove iz Hrvatske i Europe. Chefovi ne samo da kuhaju zajedno, već dubinski uranjaju u lokalne okuse, namirnice i priče. Svaki gostujući chef održao je masterclass za tim restorana domaćina, potičući profesionalni rast i razmjenu znanja s obje strane.

U sklopu ovogodišnjeg izdanja, Vila Rova i chef Marin Pleše ugostili su talijanskog chefa Christiana Benvenuta iz restorana La Filanda.

Kako bismo mu pokazali najbolje od otoka Krka, posjetili smo OPG Šegulja gdje smo kušali njihovo odlično maslinovo ulje te džem od smokve i dinje, a zatim i butiknu vinariju San Apollinare, gdje smo uživali u lokalnom pršutu, siru i našem najsjevernijem pošipu.

Vrhunac dana bilo je kuhanje u vrtu Vile Rova s pogledom na more. Koristeći svježe ulovljene kvarnerske škampe, chef Benvenuto pripremio je kremasti rižoto s limunom, bademima i ukiseljenim listom smokve, uz inovativno jelo od hobotnice s artičokom omotanom u jestivo srebro. Chef Pleše pripremio je buzaru od temeljca brancina i smokava.

Ovo predivno druženje zaokružili smo ugodnim razgovorom i čašom pjenušca Tomac Planet A. Zavirite u galeriju fotografija u nastavku i osjetite atmosferu!

Oživjeli smo tradiciju i okuse Dubašnice na ovogodišnjoj manifestaciji Sensa koju je predvodio DUBoak - Interpretacijski centar maritimne baštine uz potporu Turističke zajednice Općine Malinska-Dubašnica Visit Malinska - Krk island, Općine Malinska-Dubašnica i Komunalnog društva Dubašnica!

Iako je cijeli festival slavio bogatu baštinu našeg kraja, posebno smo ponosni na večernji gastronomski program pod koordinacijom chefa Marin Pleše . Bilo je predivno vidjeti kako su se lokalni ugostitelji ujedinili kako bi gostima, predstavili suvremene interpretacije tradicionalnih otočnih jela.

Hvala svim kolegama koji su zajedno s nama iz Restorana Vila Rova stvorili ovu nezaboravnu kulinarsku priču. Kvarner je s razlogom ponosni nositelj titule Europske regije gastronomije!

We brought the traditions and flavors of Dubašnica to life at this year's Sensa festival in Malinska!

While the entire festival celebrated the rich heritage of our region, we are especially proud of the evening gastronomic program coordinated by Chef Marin Pleše. It was wonderful to see local restaurateurs come together to present guests with modern interpretations of traditional island dishes.

Kvarner on your Plate dinner series has been successfully opened at Restaurant Vila Rova this weekend with the brilliant Chef Deni Srdoč who joined forces with host chef Marin Pleše.

In a relaxed atmosphere, guests enjoyed a variety of dishes, ranging from reinterpreted octopus salad to sea bass fin which, following the tradition of the gradela, was eaten by hand. The experience was perfectly complemented by the fantastic wines of Tomac Vinarija Novska and Šember wineries from Plešivica, and Weingut Heiligenblut from the German region of Rheinhessen.

No true culinary story is complete without a glass of fine wine. That is why we are especially pleased that the first dinner of our KVARNER ON YOUR PLATE: Chefs Deni Srdoč & Marin Pleše at Vila Rova, Malinska, will be accompanied by the premium wines of two renowned families from Plešivica – Šember and Tomac.

The Šember Winery brings us a tradition spanning seven generations. Their wines come from organic vineyards on the steep slopes of Plešivica, and every bottle reflects the family’s organic approach in the vineyard and thoughtful work in the cellar. Their sparkling and still wines are aged in wooden barrels, which provides the complexity, stability, and character that will perfectly complement the plates of chefs Srdoč and Pleše.

The Tomac family, on the other hand, is known for a century-long winemaking tradition. As pioneers of biodynamics, they pour pure nature into their bottles, producing sparkling, still, and macerated wines aged in Georgian amphorae. These wines are created with minimal intervention and a deep love for the vineyard.

Vinarija Šember donosi nam tradiciju dugu sedam generacija. Njihova vina dolaze iz ekoloških vinograda sa strmih padina Plešivice, a svaka boca odražava organski pristup u vinogradu i promišljen rad u podrumu cijele obitelji. Njihovi pjenušci i mirna vina odležavaju u drvenim bačvama, što im daje kompleksnost i stabilnost te karakter koji će nadopuniti tanjure chefa Srdoča i Pleše.
