Before the olive oil, come “tučene masline” which means “cracked olives”.

And this might just be our favourite part of the season.

You wait for one of those beautiful sunny days, gather the family and head out to the olive grove. No big plans, everyone finds something to do. Picking, cutting, talking, laughing… some doing a little more talking than working….

These olives will now be prepared the old-fashioned way, slowly, just as they have been for generations.

Soon, we’ll be back for the rest, this time, for the olive oil.

Because before something reaches our table, there’s often a whole day worth remembering♥️

Some faces have been watching these walls longer than any of us.

Our mascheroni are part of the story of Renaissance, expressive faces inspired by the decorative details found throughout old Dubrovnik, where art was never reserved only for paintings and galleries. It lived on walls, ceilings, stone and in the smallest details.

Octopus alla Peka is one of those dishes you shouldn’t judge before the first bite.

And after that first bite? Well… losing your mind a little is completely understandable.

Slow-cooked, full of deep Mediterranean flavours, and finished the way we love it most - with a generous drizzle of our homemade olive oil.

Some evenings start with dinner and end with people who didn’t know each other a few hours ago singing the same song.

Different countries, different languages, different reasons that brought them to Dubrovnik. Someone requests a song, another table joins in, glasses are raised and suddenly the whole room feels like one big table.

Maybe that’s what we love most about evenings at Renaissance. You come for dinner, but somewhere between the first plate and the last song, you become part of something.

Because no matter where we come from, there’s one language we all seem to understand♥️
